Terms of Use
Effective October 4, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Austin Pennyfeather of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada ("we", "us"), who makes BudgetGen. By using BudgetGen you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
1. Who can use BudgetGen
You must be at least 13 to use BudgetGen, and old enough to make a binding contract where you live (or have a parent or guardian's permission) to buy a subscription.
2. Your account
BudgetGen makes an anonymous account on your phone when you start. You can sign in with Apple, Google or email to keep your plan when you change phones. Keep your sign-in details safe; you're responsible for what happens in your account.
3. Subscriptions and the free trial
- BudgetGen needs a subscription, yearly or monthly. The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial for people who haven't had one.
- One subscription covers a shared plan: while yours is active (including its free trial), a partner sharing your plan can use BudgetGen too. When it ends, or when the one who pays leaves the plan, the other needs their own subscription to keep using it.
- Payment is taken from your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends.
- Your subscription renews automatically at the same price and length unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your BudgetGen account does not cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- To keep the service running for everyone, there are fair limits on how many questions you can ask each day and receipts you can send each month (lower during the free trial). We may change prices or limits; a price change takes effect only as the App Store allows, with notice to you.
4. Not financial advice
BudgetGen is a tool for understanding your own money. It works out figures from the information you enter, and uses AI to explain them and to read receipts. It is not financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and it is not a bank: it never moves your money. Its figures are only as accurate as what you enter, and AI answers can be wrong. Check anything important, and talk to a qualified professional before big financial decisions.
5. Your content
What you enter is yours. You let us store and process it as needed to run BudgetGen for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Sharing with a partner
If you invite someone to share your plan, they can see and change it. Invite only people you trust. Either of you can leave the shared plan at any time.
7. Fair use
Please don't misuse BudgetGen: don't break the law with it, try to get around its limits or security, reverse engineer it, use automated means to access it, or interfere with other people's use of it.
8. Changes and availability
We work to keep BudgetGen running well, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features.
9. Our property
BudgetGen, including its design, text, graphics and software, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, under these terms and the App Store's rules.
10. Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, BudgetGen is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind beyond those the law requires.
11. Limit on liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make using BudgetGen, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for BudgetGen in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
12. Ending these terms
You can stop using BudgetGen and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
13. Apple
If you got BudgetGen from Apple's App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for BudgetGen and its content.
- Your licence to use BudgetGen is limited to Apple-branded products you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms allow (including through Family Sharing).
- We, not Apple, are solely responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for BudgetGen.
- If BudgetGen fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price you paid, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for BudgetGen; any other claims, losses or costs from a failure to meet a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent these terms say.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or anyone else relating to BudgetGen, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If anyone claims that BudgetGen, or your having or using it, infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You confirm that you are not in a country under a U.S. government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use BudgetGen, such as your wireless data service agreement.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
- Questions, complaints or claims about BudgetGen go to us: Austin Pennyfeather, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, at info@phileosolutions.com.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Alberta, unless the consumer law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.
15. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app before an important change takes effect. Continuing to use BudgetGen after that means you accept the new terms.
